Join Get In The Wild for a 3-day photography workshop at the Dirty Devil/Robber’s Roost Wilderness. The workshop will combine photography, exploration, and exciting canyoneering adventure at some of the most spectacular and awe-inspiring landscapes of southern Utah’s Canyon Country. The Dirty Devil/Robber’s Roost Wilderness was the last area to be mapped in the Lower 48 and one of the few places protected for solitude. The area provides a photographic extravaganza for adventurous photographers looking to capture seldom-seen slot-canyons, hidden arches and waterfalls and extraordinary vistas. You’ll not only learn the technical details of landscape photography, but explore the creative process to expand your photographic vision.
Each day will include photography, exploration and exciting canyoneering adventure. It is the best of both worlds - you get to experience the challenge and excitement of canyoneering and expert photographic instruction at some of the wildest and most beautiful landscapes in America.
This is a physically challenging tour suitable for all experience levels. Participants should be in good physical condition and capable of carrying a pack full of gear up to 5 miles over challenging terrain.
The workshop cost is $1295 per person excluding tax and gratuities. We expect the workshop to fill quickly and reservations will be made on a first come basis. Once payment is received, we will forward additional information, (suggested packing list, registration form, etc.) to you.
Each day will include a combination of photographic instruction and exploration at some of the most beautiful, wild and remote landscapes in southern Utah. Shooting locations will be selected based upon light, weather and course content for the day and group preferences. A typical day will include grand landscapes at sunrise and sunset and spectacular, redrock slot canyons during the day. A short primer in basic technical canyoneering will also be included to allow guests to become familiar with canyoneering technique and gear. The end of each day will include a slideshow and image critique. It will also include a lesson on post-processing including RAW processing and conversion, stitching panoramas, and final touches to improve an image.
